We had a great Independence Day celebration with our family this year out in the country. We did the usual cookout with burgers, dogs, chicken & all the trimmings. Plenty of food & PLENTY of fireworks. In fact, as you will see by the picture below, there were more than plenty of fireworks & that picture only shows about half of the arsenal we had available. People just kept bringing in box after box of explosive filled fun. But that is not the point of this post. The point of this is that we were all a big ‘ole bunch of red necks. And I say that not as a derogatory thing but as a thing of pride. You see, though there was a reason for a get together that day, there didn’t need to be. Country folk just might be gathering to celebrate a Saturday, or a Dog’s birthday, or nothing at all. We might get together just for the hell of it. We love our friends & family & have no problem in showing that. We sometimes show up at peoples houses & are welcomed in with laughter, hugs & stories. One lady there that I barely knew asked how I liked my new grandson & I told here how wonderful he was. She only knew me from Facebook, but was genuinely interested in getting to know me & was a part of my family 100 percent. If that is what being a red neck is, then count me in, it’s a color I like.
